Solo Bass Night is a series of ongoing solo bass events.
Our Mission is to:
Advance the art of solo bass in its countless varied expressions
To carry forward the tradition started with the first Freight and Salvage Solo Bass Nights in the Bay Area
To shine a fresh light on this young instrument called electric bass and promote the idea of bass as a solo instrument
To inspire and encourage bassists of all backgrounds to consider the solo bassist within them
To bring listening enjoyment to the music-loving public and to introduce them to the artists of solo bass and their varied compositions
To make a case for out-of-the-box thinking, experimentation, bold and boundless creativity and creating beauty that touches
History:
The founding of “Bass Solo Night at the Freight and Salvage” occurred in the forums at TalkBass.com in 2005 (probably in Michael Manring’s forum) where Jean Beaudin, Jeff Schmidt, Michael Manring, and Dave Grossman discussed it as an idea.
